EMMS PTA embraces our Middletown, Odessa, Townsend and Bear Community.

At Everett Meredith Middle School PTA, our goal is enhancing communication between parents, school staff and administration while educating, empowering and encouraging the EMMS Community to get involved.
According to research study published by the Southwest Educational Development Laboratory (2002), students with involved parents, no matter what their income or background, are more likely to:
Students
Earn higher grades and test scores, and enroll in higher-level programs
Be promoted, pass their classes and earn credits
Attend school regularly
Have better social skills, show improved behavior and adapt well to school
Graduate and go on to post-secondary education
Teachers
Greater morale (and self-esteem)
Teaching effectiveness (proficiency) increases
Job satisfaction goes up
Communication/relations with students, parents, families, & communities improves
Community support of schools increases
Parents
Communication/relations with children and teachers improves
Self-esteem goes up
Education level/skills increase
Decision-making skills become stronger
Attitude toward school and school personnel improves
The Mission of the PTA is threefold:


To support and speak on behalf of children and youth in the schools, in the community, and before governmental bodies and other organizations that make decisions affecting children.

To assist parents in developing the skills they need to raise and protect their children.

To encourage parent and public involvement in the public schools of this nation.
Attend one of EMMS' PTA meetings the third Wednesday of every month.
Everyone is welcome. Most meetings, you walk away learning something new.

The dates for the PTA meetings are every third Wednesday (with the exception of November and February, since parent/teacher conferences are scheduled that week) in the Library beginning at 6:30 p.m.
